About The Mentoring Program

What it is:

  • I'm very excited to have this opportunity to share my knowledge and experience with a small, select number of clients.

  • This is a personal one-on-one mentoring program for a handful of selected clients - the initial limit is just three clients and this will increase to a maximum of 5 or 6 over time. I don't plan to ever mentor more than six clients at a time.

  • If you join this program, you are expected to commit to the program and understand the timeframes involved (this is not a quick-fix solution, it's an offer of support and guidance on a challenging journey).

  • Your needs and journey will be different and unique, so there is no fixed curriculum or process. This is not a course for the masses. It is not a standard program, a one-size-fits-all. Your unique mentoring program will be worked out with your input as we begin our journey.

  • My goal is to help traders who aspire to being full-time professional traders, or who simply want to be the very best traders they can be. If this is the journey you're on, then this program is designed for you.

  • To join this program you need to apply. And not all applicants will be accepted. If your application isn't accepted it does NOT mean you aren't, or can't be, a very successful trader!

  • A mentoring relationship is a very special one, and works best when the two parties are aligned in things like goals, attitudes, trading style, etc and the application process is designed to help me understand how well our mentoring relationship could work: ie whether I am the best support person to meet your needs and help you achieve your trading goals.

What it isn't:

  • It's not a course or pre-defined program.

  • It's not a "mentoring program" offered to hundreds of clients, with "resources" (books, tapes, videos, CD's, self-assessment tests etc) and a few minutes monthly with a "Guru". In my view this is just a course with added extras - not a mentorship.

  • It's not a way for anyone to obtain or request specific investment advice.

  • It's not likely to suit Day-traders or short-term swing traders.

  • It's not intended for those seeking a basic understanding of the markets and how they work (I am considering offering a short course on this in the future).

What it covers:

If you've read this far, you'll know there is no fixed content, so each clients journey covers different ground. Below is a short list of some of the territory we could cover on your journey:

Understanding the markets and how they work.

How to "read" markets and trade them successfully.

Understanding and trading the TrendSensor system successfully.

How to manage trade and portfolio risk.

How and when to enter a trade.

How to manage trades once they're entered.

How and when to exit a trade.

Trading Plan development and use.

How to plan each trade.

How to build and maintain the discipline necessary for successful trading.

How to overcome habits that undermine your trading performance.

How to take the psychology and attitudes of successful traders, and develop them as your own.

How it works:

  • We agree a minimum commitment period for the mentoring program for your individual situation.

  • We talk for up to 45 minutes each week at a time that suits you. You receive a minimum of eleven of these phone calls each quarter. These are included in the mentoring program costs.

  • Each phone call above includes an interactive screen-sharing service (where you can see what's on my computer screen, and point to specific things, if you want to. And if you want me to, you can allow me to view what's on your screen). We'll use this to learn how to use some of the trading tools I share with you. We'll also review charts and actual trades and even place trades together, working interactively in this way. This is included in the mentoring program costs.

  • You will receive a special, priority email address to contact me with. I will aim to respond to these emails within 24 hours. When I'm on holiday I'll check for these emails as often as I can.

  • Initially, we spend time developing and agreeing your unique mentoring plan. Once we've done this I may recommend books and other resources for us to work through together.

  • Your mentoring plan will include agreeing milestones that will help you know you are on the path to achieving your trading goals.

Unsolicited Feedback from a mentoring client:

Terms:

  • The mentoring program fee is paid in advance for the minimum period agreed with the client. This reinforces the commitment to the program is a serious one.

  • If Murray Nickel terminates the program with the client for any reason (including mutual agreement), any unused portion of the fee for the minimum period will be refunded in full.

  • If the client terminates the program for any reason there will be no entitlement to any refund.

  • The cost of the mentoring program varies for each client, but is currently charged at a very reasonable US$50 per hour, assuming 2 hours per week. For a full year of mentoring this works out to US$4600.

How to Apply:

Simply complete the application form online and click the "Send Application" button at the bottom of the form.

You'll hear back from me within a few days. If my assessment is that we are likely to have a successful mentoring relationship, I will arrange to call you at a time that suits you so we can discuss next steps and agree the minimum duration for the mentoring program.

If your application is unsuccessful I may still be able to help you find the support you need to achieve your goals. You'll see more details on this after submitting your application.

The application process and assessment is free and doesn't obligate you to anything, but please only apply if you're seriously interested and willing to commit to the time, cost and effort involved. Becoming skilled at any profession requires education, work and experience, and trading is no exception. Apply now.
