how do i get black shoe polish off of light beige carpeting?

i dropped black shoe polish on light beige carpet when i was polishing my shoes and i dont know how to get it out. . . HOW?!

Rubbing alcohol works great! Pour directly on stain and blot up with dish cloth. Rubbing doesn't hurt it as long as you blot most of it up first, then use a clean part of the cloth. Rotate cloth a lot to keep clean cloth against alcohol-soaked stain. Transfers stain to cloth.

Be generous with the alcohol if necessary. Don't worry about using too much, but start slow and add more until the stain is all gone.
