Why can't I wear my Club Penguin member items when my membership expires?

My club penguin membership has recently expired and I noticed that I can't wear any of the clothes I bought while I was a member. I payed for it but why can't I wear them anymore? I've seen people who aren't members anymore with member clothes on (like wigs) and it said on their player card they weren't members anymore. Why is that?

You can't because the creators of Club Penguin want innocent children to force there kids into spending there money so their character can have shoes, or sun glasses or something.
